London opens everything. Rome, pressing on vaccines and green passes

Take the Freedom Day in Great Britain. today, Monday 19 July, the United Kingdom lifts all anti-contagion restrictions. A very controversial choice, which has not failed to arouse controversy both in the scientific community and in the political debate. To calm the climate, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has launched an appeal for "caution" and has gone into self-isolation as a precautionary measure after coming into contact with the Minister of Health, Sajid Javid, who tested positive for Covid.

Moreover, the health picture in the country is not at all reassuring. The ascent of the infections continues, dragged by the Delta variant. Only yesterday the new positives exceeded 48.000. Neil Ferguson, an Imperial College professor and a member of the committee assisting the government on the Covid emergency, told the Guardian that, as restrictions were lifted, it was "almost inevitable" that new infections would return within three weeks. to 100 cases per day.

HERE LONDON: FREEDOM DAY AND QUARANTINE

Meanwhile, between Great Britain and France bursts the quarantine war. London tightened controls on those entering the UK from across the Channel on Friday evening, imposing 10-day isolation and a double swab. These measures are envisaged for entries from countries that are included in the British government's "orange list" (which also includes Italy). However, it is usually exempt from quarantine who has received both doses of the vaccine. An exception which, however, is not foreseen for entries from France, for which quarantine is always imposed, regardless of the injections received.

Over the weekend, Paris replied by halving the time limit for carrying out the swab: now those arriving from the United Kingdom must show the result of a test carried out in the 24 hours preceding entry (previously the limit was 48 hours).

HERE ROME: PRESSING ON GREEN PASS AND VACCINES

It's Italy? In our country The pressure on the extension of the is growing greenpass. The plan that the Scientific Technical Committee will deliver to the Government today is based on two pillars: granting the vaccination passport only after two doses and at the same time enhancing the vaccination campaign for the over 60s by looking for those who have not been immunized through the national health system.

By Wednesday the government control room will draw up the list of places where the green pass will become mandatory: in addition to stadiums, gyms, events, concerts, entertainment venues, trains, planes and ships, the list should also include discos (which in any case will be filled to a maximum of half the capacity) and indoor restaurants.

As for the Italian epidemiological situation, Sunday's bulletin records 3.127 new infections, three deaths and a positivity rate of 1,9%, with an increase of 0,6% compared to the previous day.
