Lombardy, Moratti enters and Gallera leaves: here is the new junta

It is now official. The council of the Lombardy Region changes its face. After months of criticism due to the management of the Covid-19 emergency, the former mayor of Milan and former minister Letizia Moratti will take the place of Giulio Gallera becoming councilor for welfare and vice president. On the evening of Thursday 7 January, the green light came from the leader of the League, Matteo Salvini, with the approval of Silvio Berlusconi.

Gallera will leave the junta definitively after having rejected the offer for the role of undersecretary.

However, Letizia Moratti's entry into the junta led by Attilio Fontana will not be the only novelty. Silvia Piani (Lega) will leave the Department of Family. In her place will be the former Minister for the Family and Disability Alessandra Locatelli, who will also take over the delegation to social policies and disability. Also enter Guido Guidesi (Lega), a former undersecretary who will leave Parliament to land at the Pirellone and take over Economic Development with responsibility for the Recovery Plan and refreshments.

Alessandro Mattinzoli will go to social housing, while the current Northern League councilor Stefano Bolognini among other things, he will be responsible for the development of the metropolitan area. Fabrizio Sala he will lose the role of vice president (which will go to Moratti, we recall) but will retain the other powers. The two councilors of the Brothers of Italy also remain in place: Richard De Corato to Security and Lara Magoni to Tourism.

It is “a stronger and more structured team. Unlike what happens in Rome, where they have been going on for a month, here we are not talking about names and surnames but about projects and relaunching. 2021 will be a year of restart for the Lombards" commented Salvini, indicating "health and economic recovery" as a priority for the Region most affected by the pandemic.
