Fininvest will pay Cir by 26 July. The decision was communicated today after the sentence of the Milan Court of Appeal on 9 July on the Lodo Mondadori. The holding company of the Berlusconi family will thus directly disburse 560 million euros to the company headed by Carlo De Benedetti. This is an alternative to calling the surety issued on 21 December 2009.
The payment, underlines Fininvest, "does not in any way represent acquiescence in the sentence and the company has reserved the right to ask for it to be repeated following the outcome of the appeal against the sentence itself". In fact, the company "confirms that it will appeal to the Supreme Court against the decision of the court of appeal, reiterates that it has always operated in the most absolute correctness, underlines once again that there is no damage to Cir for which it must answer and is certain that its good reasons cannot fail to be recognized”.
