MATTARELLA'S STAFF - Zampetti is the new general secretary of the Quirinale free of charge

Will Ugo Zampetti the general secretary of the Presidency of the Republic and "will exercise his functions without any compensation", as stated in a note from the Quirinale. Zampetti, born in 1949, former general secretary of the Chamber for 15 years, was retired. Also, with the enlistment of Daniel Cabras as director of the office of the general secretariat of the Presidency, this completes the picture of the new office of collaborators of Sergio Mattarella, after the first appointments made last week of Simone Guerrini, Gianfranco Astori and Giovanni Grasso.

In his long experience at Montecitorio, Zampetti collaborated with the presidents Violante, Casini, Bertinotti, Fini and Boldrini. Since 2000, he has promoted a process of overall reorganization of the administrative structures of the Chamber which started from the needs posed by the regulatory changes of 1997, by the changes induced by the reform of Title V of the Constitution and by the process of revision of the European treaties.

In a previous press release, the Quirinale had announced that "the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in acknowledging the unavailability of the state councilor Donato Marra to continue to perform the functions of secretary general of the presidency of the Republic, given the onerous commitment in the almost nine years of Giorgio Napolitano's presidency, he thanked him for his collaboration during the transition phase”.

In the meantime, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella has accepted the proposal made by many to open the Quirinale to the public: "The Quirinale - he said - is the home of the Italians and will be open to visits every day".
