“L'Italia Chiamò”: today the streaming marathon for the Civil Protection

This is the appeal launched by the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism, Dario Franceschini, as part of the #iorestoacasa campaign.

"I ask Rai and all TV and radio stations to support"Italy called”, the solidarity marathon for the Civil Protection broadcast on Friday 13 March until midnight on the YouTube channel of the Mibact. The signal is free and windows can be opened all day in the various television and radio broadcasts”.

Il MiBACT has joined "L'Italia Chiamò", the campaign born spontaneously on the web which sees many artists, journalists, museums and cultural institutions engaged in a major event aimed at raising funds for the Civil Protection. The MiBACT YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/MiBACT) will host today Friday 13 March the first 18-hour marathon which will be held from 6 in the morning until midnight.

Thanks to over 100 protagonists from the world of information, culture, music and entertainment, it will be possible to attend the staging of moments of cultural festivals, theatrical productions, concerts and suspended or canceled exhibitions: performances, interviews, songs and poems, all streamed from artists' homes.

The schedule will also feature videos produced by the Ministry's places of culture to talk about life in these days at the museum, in the libraries, in the archives, the ongoing activities and the many initiatives on digital channels. The network of autonomous state museums immediately took action to allow the public to enjoy their cultural heritage through social networks and the web. Many places of culture are contributing with images, virtual visits, videos in which the directors illustrate the works they house. These efforts, facilitated, promoted and coordinated by MiBACT, are helping people to approach culture or keep in touch with their cultural heritage. A first, important step of a new digital approach to the enhancement of museums that will remain even after the end of the coronavirus emergency.

The Scuderie del Quirinale will also join the initiative, taking part in the great event in live streaming. Courage, resilience, talent: the antibodies of Italian men and women at the time of the coronavirus" (#litaliachiamo), with a video contribution dedicated to the exhibition "Raffaello.1520-1483”, organized in collaboration with the Uffizi on the occasion of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the painter's death.
