Lirica, how much stars earn in Italy

The monthly Classic Voice reveals the amount of the new ceiling on the salaries of great musicians: at the top of the ranking orchestra conductors and soloists, followed by singers and directors – The real problem, however, is in the regularity of payments: those who do not work in the temples of music is forced to wait even years before cashing in.

Lirica, how much stars earn in Italy

A roof of 30mila euros in concert for the cachets of the grown-ups orchestra conductors and the most sought-after soloists. This was the limit established by the opera companies to put an end to the anarchy of the XNUMXs and XNUMXs, when in Italy the music stars were earning astronomical sums. The numbers of the new fees in force in the musical institutions of our country were released by the monthly Classic Voice, today on newsstands with the new issue.

As for i singers, whoever earns the most gets to collect 20mila euros for a concert and 17mila for each opera performance. The most successful directors, on the other hand, travel around 60 thousand euros for each production.

Of course, these are not numbers for everyone. Only the elite of the sector can ask for this level of cachet, but perhaps this is not the most important aspect. In addition to the check amount, for artists, it matters the regularity and punctuality of payments. Those who perform in temples of music such as La Scala in Milan, Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Fenice in Venice know that they will have no problems.

Those who work at the Teatro Lirico i Cagliari, on average, to be paid must wait well three years. GenoVa the wait lasts a yearwhile a Florence and at the Opera of Roma you browse between seven and nine months. The reason? Theaters often find themselves without liquidity, in many cases through no fault of their own: even if their budget is in order, they receive government funds with an irregular frequency (and amount). Result: young talents (but also established masters) prefer to seek employment abroad.
