Iraq scares the stock exchanges, but Piazza Affari resists

While awaiting developments in the Iraqi crisis, the European stock exchanges are in the red, but Milan limits the damage better than the other lists – Oil companies are down: Tenaris -1%, Saipem -1,8%, Eni -0,5% – They rebound after difficult days, bank stocks – Another collapse for Mps, waiting for the increase to close – Ansaldo Sts, promoted by Natixis, shines.

Iraq scares the stock exchanges, but Piazza Affari resists

Piazza Affari is still weak, in line with the other European stock exchanges, awaiting developments on the Iraqi crisis. The first US reinforcements are arriving in Baghdad, while ISIL militiamen are attacking army airbases. Oil prices are down in Milan: Tenaris -1% Saipem -1,8%. Eni it lost 0,5% also due to the possible new delay in the start of production at the Kashagan field, in Kazakhstan. 

The index Ftse Eb is down 0,05%. The decline of the other lists was more marked, in the wake of Wall Street and the Asian markets: Paris lost 0,63%, London -0,77%, Frankfurt -0,43%.

This morning's auction of the ctz: the treasure placed 2,5 billion euros of securities to 2016 at a yield of 0,591%, the lowest since the euro existed. In May, the same securities had been placed at 0,782%.

They turned out better than expected retail sales in April, up 2,6% year on year, the largest positive change since May 2013. However, the consumer confidence: in June, the index on Italians' propensity to purchase dropped to 105,7 from 106,3 in May. Economists had expected a slight increase, to 106,4.

Bank stocks rebound after difficult days. Understanding is the best, with a 2% upside. They follow Unicredit (+ 1%), Banco Popolare (+ 1,5%), Banca Popolare di Milano (+ 2,4%), Mediobanca (+1,2) and Ubi (+1,3%). It's an exception MontePaschi which falls again and loses 18%, to 1,55 euros.

Among other titles, Finmeccanica it loses 0,3%, while the subsidiary stands out Ansaldo Sts (+1,5%), supported by the promotion of Natixis, which raised the recommendation to Buy from Neutral. 

Low losses for Fiat (-0,2%). StM +0,5% and Prysmian -1%. Weak utilities: Enel drops by 0,5% ed Enel Green Power 1,4%. Telecom Italy salt by 1,4% and Mediaset 1%.
