Inter wins the derby hands down and remains in the lead in front of a faded Juve

Conte's Inter overwhelmed Milan (2-0) and alone commanded the standings with full points – Juve, on the other hand, struggled to beat a tough Verona at home.

Inter wins the derby hands down and remains in the lead in front of a faded Juve

Try to stop her if you can. Inter also wins the derby and thus maintains their lead at the top of the standings, with full points with 9 goals scored and only one conceded. Milan, on the other hand, licks its wounds for yet another derby lost (the last victory in the league dates back to 31 January 2016, since then 3 draws and 4 defeats) and, above all, he has to deal with another wrong match, the umpteenth of this disappointing start to the season. Beyond the episodes, in fact, it was Conte's ideas, clear and precise, that prevailed over Giampaolo's confused ones, without however overshadowing the individual performance of some Nerazzurri players, sensationally superior to that of the Rossoneri .

The result is that Inter won 2-0 and the result, net of the opportunities had, is even narrow, demonstrating a job that is working great, beyond any wildest expectation. For Milan, on the other hand, it's time to stop for a moment and reflect on their technical and personality limits, but also on the work of a coach who, for the moment, is very far from that "head held high and let's play football" enunciated at the top of the lungs on the day of the meeting. His ideas are struggling to see each other and the team, despite the optimistic words of each eve, can't find a precise identity to rely on, in the good times and in the more complex ones.

Giampaolo tried to surprise everyone by leaving both Rebic and Paquetà on the bench and relying on Leao, for a hybrid 4-3-3 with the Portuguese and Suso in support of Piatek. Conte instead confirmed the 3-5-2 of the first outings, however advancing D'Ambrosio in midfield and choosing Barella in place of Vecino. Moves that appeared spot on from the very first minutes, with his Inter close to scoring several times against a scared and lost Milan. In the 11th minute Rodriguez came close to harakiri with a crazy back pass, in the 18th minute Donnarumma stopped Lukaku with a great save, in the 21st minute D'Ambrosio hit a sensational post into an empty net, in the 36th minute Lautaro Martínez was seen disallow a goal for a few centimeters offside by D'Ambrosio himself.

However, many missed opportunities restored a minimum of courage to the Rossoneri, who in the 39th minute gave their rivals the shivers with a ride from Suso (Asamoah's intervention was providential) and in the 43rd minute they produced the best free-goal of the ( them) match with Piatek, unfortunate in wasting a header on an assist from Leao. At the start of the second half, however, Inter returned to grind the game and in the 48th minute the balance-breaking goal came from Brozovic, whose shot, deflected by Leao, beat the innocent Donnarumma: minutes of tension due to the initial cancellation of Martinez's duties due to offside, before the Var demonstrated his passivity and therefore the regularity of the goal.

Inter ahead and a totally downhill game, especially in the presence of a Milan unable to react with logic and ideas. In the 61st minute Lautaro engaged Donnarumma again, then, in the 77th minute, Lukaku's punch hit the North and with her all the Nerazzurri people. From then on it was just an exhibition, with Inter's goleada stopped only by the San Siro woodworks, fatal for both Politano (80') and Candreva (93'). Milan? Only a post from the newly entered Hernandez (86') and a worrying mix of confusion and resignation, as if he expected nothing more than the final whistle from the referee. “There is a lot of satisfaction, the boys played a very good game – commented Conte. – We came from a match in the Champions League that left a bad taste in our mouths and gave us even more energy. It's a deserved victoryI'm happy for the boys and for our fans. It was my first derby, I wanted to make a good impression."

“We started the game with some hesitation, then we recovered and played level in the first half – replied Giampaolo. – Then the goal upset the balance and we disunited, reacting in a disorderly, emotional, unmature way. Inter have something more in terms of experience…”. Will be, in the meantime, however, the ranking already sees a gap of 6 points, too many in just 4 days.

The Nerazzurri's triumph would have been even more complete if Juve hadn't beaten Verona shortly before the derby, albeit at the end of a much more fought match than expected. The first version of the "Sarrian" turnover is saved only for the result, a 2-1 signed by the unprecedented Ramsey-Ronaldo couple, certainly not for the game expressed, still far from the wishes of the parent company. Juve, lined up with Buffon in goal, Demiral in defense, Ramsey and Bentancur in midfield, Dybala in attack, struggled to beat a tough Verona and decided to play its chances. Also because, thanks to 17" of madness, it was Juric's team that took the lead first, despite Di Carmine wasting a penalty (foul by Demiral) on the post: Lazovic hit the crossbar on the rebound, then, on the continuation of the action, Veloso found the 1-0 with a fantastic shot under the cross (21').

Juve in difficulty but able to bring out the usual individual qualities, even with a pinch of luck: Ramsey's shot would have ended up in Silvestri's arms but Gunter's deflection sent it into the net, for the immediate 1- 1 (31'). At the beginning of the second half the decisive episode with Gunter, again him, committing a foul on Cuadrado for a penalty that Ronaldo, unlike Di Carmine, threw on goal (49 '). From then on one would have expected a lady on velvet, instead it was Verona that came close to scoring several times, first with Di Carmine (69', save by Bonucci), then with the double Lazovic-Veloso chance in the 90th minute, thwarted by Buffon and the outside post.

“It's important to have scored points, we were good at overturning a game that had become difficult against a healthy team – Sarri's analysis -. We are under construction, the tendency to defend up front is lost and for a team that wants to play like us this is dangerous. We need time, in Empoli we conceded 25 goals in the first nine games, in Naples we suffered the first two-three months: the team has no serenity in going out behind when they press us”.
