Inter slow down, Milan win again

Spalletti's Nerazzurri didn't go beyond the draw (1-1) against an excellent Toro and the 73 (!) of San Siro remained with a bitter taste – Milan smiled back instead, dispelling the Sassuolo taboo by winning away for 2-0 and saving Montella's bench

Inter stops, Milan win again. For once the moods in Milan are reversed, with the Rossoneri celebrating 3 eagerly awaited points and the Nerazzurri brooding over a draw which, considering the other players' results, smacks of a wasted opportunity.

Of course, the speech can also be read from another perspective: Spalletti's men are still 2 points behind Napoli, Montella's are 9 (but Lazio will have to make up for the match against Udinese, postponed due to rain) from the area Champions.

On balance, in short, Inter can smile much more than Milan even after the 1-1 draw against Turin. The result, that of Milan, which took on different nuances as the day went by: initially it seemed like a misstep, but then, in the light of the draw against Napoli, it can still be seen as something positive.

Sure, the 73 at San Siro hoped to win and storm the top of the standings, but on balance Inter remain unbeaten and the comeback draw against an excellent Turin cannot be thrown away.

“We still have a bit of a bitter taste in our mouths – admitted Spalletti – Sometimes it happens that you can't express yourself at your best, we made too many mistakes in terms of dribbling. In the end, however, we managed to put things right, overall I'd say it's a good point against a good team."

It was a strange match for Milan, with an Inter who played strong but dropped at a distance and a Turin capable of growing without really closing the game. After the balance-breaking goal by Iago Falque (60'), the grenades had the chance to make it 2-0 and knock out the Nerazzurri, perhaps definitively.

However, Obi and Belotti weren't precise enough and so Spalletti's team, even if they didn't charm, managed to regain that edge that had already allowed them to win, or at least not lose, matches that had gone badly on other occasions. Eder's paw (80') gave a thrilling finish, so much so that Vecino even came close to winning with a great right foot saved only by the crossbar.

The 3 points, on the other hand, were taken by Milan, who thus found success and coaching in one fell swoop. Yes, because the 0-2 at the Mapei Stadium actually saves Vincenzo Montella's bench, "saved" by his players precisely in the match that could have marked his exemption.

The standings remain deficient but the Rossoneri return home with answers, if not positive, at least encouraging: to understand if the road is the right one, more probative tests will be needed than Bucchi's Sassuolo, fourth from last and with only 2 points ahead of the relegation zone, however, the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to show and who knows if this victory could mark a turning point in their very complicated season so far.

“The funeral was just a joke and I'm sorry for Gattuso, he is a dear friend and he too ended up in the midst of all this chaos – commented Montella – I am convinced that we can do better, several players will still grow a lot. We will fight to the end for our goal."

Two goals, one in each half, set the tone for the evening at the Mapei Stadium, giving Milan 3 important points without excessive effort. The first, the one that breaks the balance of the match, is scored by Romagnoli taking advantage of a naive exit from Consigli (39'), the second instead is signed by the usual Suso with a signature left foot, and this time the Sassuolo goalkeeper doesn't can anything.

Little stuff Bucchi's team, still dry of victories in their own stadium, that's why it's too early to tell if the Milan crisis is really over. In the meantime, however, a victory has arrived that could help a lot, a first step in really starting to do one's duty.
