Inflation flares up again in the OECD area: 1,6% in March

While the low inflation Eurozone continues to worry, prompting Mario Draghi's ECB to announce new extraordinary measures, the price race accelerates again in theOECD area.

According to the analysis published today by the International Organization, in March the average rate of advanced countries reached1,6%

The value remains below the share considered optimal (lower but close to 2%), but still marks an increase of 0,2 percentage points compared to the February survey. 

The change, specifies the OECD in a note, is mainly linked to a turnaround in energy prices, which grew by 0,9% in March, compared to the -0,4% recorded the previous month.

Also in March, inflation in the euro area had weakened to 0,5%, while the Italian figure did not go beyond 0,4% (index harmonized with the EU).
