Linate closed? Milan upgrades the railway stations

Linate closed for three months? Milan upgrades the railway stations. In fact, to overcome the inconvenience of the closure of the city airport, in addition to the diversion of flights to Malpensa, the State Railways has also put in place a plan to upgrade the Rogoredo station, not far from Linate and above all a strategic gateway to the southern area of the Lombard capital, i.e. right on the axis that connects Milan to Bologna, Florence, Rome and the rest of central-southern Italy. The upgrading of the Frecce stops will therefore favor modal interchange with other services and to decongest the metropolitan area of Milan, “for an increasingly door-to-door and sustainable journey”, according to what was communicated by Fs, as well as in some ways more convenient, given that arriving from Southern Italy you get off at Rogoredo a good 15 minutes before the Central Station and that by underground you can reach the center of Milan in less time.

From 28 July the daily stops of the Frecciarossa in Rogoredo (a stone's throw from the Sky headquarters) they have therefore gone from 36 to 50, without forgetting the strengthening of the line for Liguria, with 2 Frecciarossa and 8 Intercity per day towards Genoa. The connections with the Frecce of Trenitalia from the main stations of Milan (Centrale, Porta Garibaldi, Rogoredo) with Rome (Termini and Tiburtina) have therefore risen to a total of 104 every day. And in addition to the connections, assistance has also been reinforced: the Sala Freccia and the Trenitalia ticket office are open from 6 to 21.30, with extended hours. There are new self-services at the station and a mobile desk with customer service staff will be operational at peak times.

The Metropark car park (FS Italiane Group) in via Cassinis, adjacent to the station, has also been completely renovated. The area is equipped with 189 parking spaces, is able to accommodate new sustainable mobility services and is accessible to all railway travellers. The seats reserved for people with reduced mobility rise to four, positioned in front of the station entrance, for barrier-free access. Security is still improving, a deeply felt issue given the proximity to the now well-known "drug forest" of Rogoredo, whose visitors often camp out in the station to sell or beg, increasing the sense of degradation and insecurity of the airport. Now there is a new 200 square meter office for Polfer and the FS Italiane Group's Corporate Protection system was also strengthened, which ensures a greater presence of personnel in the station, on the platforms and on board the train.
