Every time a public body makes known about energy saving initiatives, we must breathe a sigh of relief. We are not exaggerating, because public structures are among the most energy intensive and the vast majority still use fossil fuels. According to the most recent data from 2021 in Italy they are responsible for 30% of emissions into the atmosphere. They are usually large, old, low-maintenance buildings.
The good news this time comes from Inail with the campaign "Turn off the light, turn on the future". It is an initiative to raise awareness of energy saving and the intelligent use of sources. The invitation to do not waste it is mainly aimed at the Institute's employees, but will also affect the thousands of users who frequent the local offices. Initiatives to equip public bodies with renewable sources are in the PNRR, but the times are not quick. The projects have been presented but the tenders need to be completed. If there are no changes to European planning, the works will have to be completed by 2026. Let's settle for awareness campaigns.
Employees as promoters
Inail staff must "spread the intelligent and rational use of energy outside and inside the work environment" says the institution. What the savings objectives are is not indicated, but an initiative that relies on thousands of employees should give good resultsthe. Furthermore, it also has an ethical value, because Inail is still the Institute for safety and health protection in the workplace where if there is no waste and no pollution it is positive.
“The internal communication policies have always placed the employee at the center of every initiative promoted, to convey the Institute's mission and values. All tools capable of promoting actions and good practices will be used. Furthermore, it will be possible to share the initiative via the Institute's social channels."
For the occasion, a newsletter was also created on the 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda. And to give external visibility the managers also involved the 21 partner countries of the European Forum of insurance against accidents at work and illnesses. Finally, on 16 February, Inail will also join the initiative "I illuminate myself less“, the radio campaign promoted by Radio2's Caterpillar program since 2005. Two moves waiting to become “eco”.
Excellent initiative!
