Head to head for the presidency of Liguria between the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci and the former minister Andrea Orlando after the judicial storm that hit the center-right, leading to the resignation of former president Giovanni Toni. According to the real data released by the Ministry of the Interior, when 819 sections out of 1.785 have been counted, the centre-left candidate is in the lead 48,35% while the centre-right one is at 47,89%Paradoxically, what is pushing Orlando's race is Genoa, the city that elected Marco Bucci as mayor twice. In the regional capital, with 273 sections counted out of 653, the gap between Orlando and Bucci is 12 points. The pollsters' findings are opposite, instead giving Bucci's victory as more likely. According to the fourth projection by Swg, broadcast by La7, the centre-right candidate would be in the lead with 49,3% of the votes against the 47,6% of the centre-left candidate. The other candidates are at 3,10%. Similar percentages from Opinio-Rai: Bucci is at 48,8%, Orlando at 47,3%.
Liguria Elections: Pd First Party, Fdi Good, M5S Debacle
The Democratic Party is by far the largest party of Liguria. With 819 sections counted: the Democratic Party would have won 28,7% of the preferences. The Five Star Movement instead collapses which would stop at 4,97%, also paying for the war between the founder (Genoese) Beppe Grillo and the leader Giuseppe Conte. Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra would instead be at 6,29%, while the Orlando presidente list stands at 5,48%. Both the centre-left list patto civico riformista with Azione and the other civic list of Orlando, Ligurians with their heads held high, are under 2%. The coalition result would be 48,37%.
In the centre-right, however, Brothers of Italy is at 14,25% and Bucci's civic list "Vince Liguria" at 9,34%. Head to head within the majority between Lega (8,54%) and Forza Italia (7,58%). The second civic list "Orgoglio Liguria" is at 5,86%, while the UDC stops at 1,35% and Bandecchi's Alternativa popolare at 0,33%.
Turnout below 50%
The final turnout was 46%, a sharp decline compared to the 53,73% of the last electoral round, also due to the bad weather that hit Liguria over the weekend. As for the individual cities, the decline is significant in the cities of Imperia, (-9% to 44%) and Savona (from 56,1% to 46,6%). In La Spezia, Orlando's city, 47,7% of voters voted (it was 52% in 2020). Finally, in Genoa, the city of the center-right candidate Marco Bucci, the final turnout was 48,29% (in the 2020 Regionals it was 53,48%).
