Sirte's defenses also gave way. The Libyan rebels of the NTC today entered one of the last strongholds loyal to Muammar Gaddafi. This was reported by the televisions Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya. The port city that gave birth to the dictator has been surrounded on three fronts by the men of the National Transitional Council. At the moment, however, the loyalists continue to refuse to surrender.

Meanwhile, the French president Nicolas Sarkozy and the British premier David Cameron met in Tripoli with representatives of the NTC, to whom they assured that the NATO mission will continue until Gaddafi is captured.
