Eni's match in Libya restarts. Paolo Scaroni, CEO of the state-controlled energy company, today signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Libyan National Transitional Council, internationally regarded as the legitimate representative of the North African country. The document commits the two parties to work to get the Italian company to resume its activities in the country as soon as possible. It is also planned to restart the Greenstream gas pipeline, which connects Libya and Italy. Eni also undertakes to supply the NTC with refined petroleum products, in order to contribute to the most urgent needs of the population.
The company "will also ensure - reads a note - the technical assistance necessary to assess the state of energy plants and infrastructures present in the country and to define the type and extent of the operations necessary for the safe restart of activities. The Memorandum signed today confirms the solidity of the relationship between Eni and the NTC, which are evaluating various possible forms of collaboration in order to ensure a timely resumption of operations in the oil and gas sector and to exploit the country's natural resources to the advantage of the Libyan people and in compliance with the contracts in force".
