Libya, the two freed Italians at Ciampino

Gino Pollicardo and Filippo Calcagno, the two Italians from the Bonatti company held hostage in Libya for 8 months, are finally home. They landed this morning, shortly after 5, at the Roman airport of Ciampino – They left from Sabratha but the circumstances of their release remain shrouded in mystery.

Their return, announced yesterday by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, had been definitively communicated by al-Zawadi, the president of the municipal council of Sabrato, who did not want to add anything else. The sigh of relief of the two families, one Ligurian and the other Sicilian, of the two freed Italians, upon their arrival at Ciampino at the first light of dawn, is understandable.

In Libya, however, the autopsies of the other two Italians killed by ISIS continue. In the next few days, the Government will report to Parliament on the whole affair and it will be Foreign Minister Gentiloni who will do so.
