The controversy erupts just as the countdown comes to an end. Only three days left, then the liberalization decree will expire. And then off to the final sprint: this afternoon in the House there is a vote of confidence, tomorrow the final vote. Yesterday, the Government hurriedly placed its confidence vote on the provision (the twelfth since the birth of the Executive) also in the Chamber, to avoid surprises between now and Saturday 24 March. On the other hand, the text had come out armored two weeks ago from Palazzo Madama and everything suggested that the ride to Montecitorio would have been quick and painless.
However, the State General Accounting Office pointed out that there are five uncovered articles in the measure. An aspect which the committee overlooked, but which did not fail to arouse the ire of the opposition: Lega and IDV have defined the entire decree as unconstitutional.
Assessments considered to be founded by the Speaker of the Chamber, Gianna Fini, who expressed "I regret the insensitivity shown by the Government, who did not deem it appropriate to provide the Assembly with further clarifications on the issues raised, because objectively these are issues that are well founded".
The reply from the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Piero Giarda, was embarrassed: “I don't know what the Ministry of the Economy will do – he told journalists at the end of the group leaders' conference -. An answer must be given…”.
