The taxi drivers' lobby, especially strong in the capital and not without political links with Mayor Alemanno's party, has struck again. Among the news of the maneuver amendments it looms postponement of many liberalisations and in the first place of what concerned himself and taxi.
As will be remembered, especially in Rome, on the occasion of Bersani sheets, the taxi drivers staged sensational protests, supported by the center-right, which somewhat limited the innovative scope of that provision, as regards public cars. Now a new chapter in this troubled story is reopening, which seems to see the taxi driver lobby prevail once again.
The previous version of the maneuver provided for the loss of the territorial bond, admitting the possibility for every license holder to also work in cities other than your own. The taxi drivers had immediately organized protests and today the repairing amendment arrived: "The transport of people - we read - by non-scheduled public bus services" it is excluded "from the scope" of liberalisations.
But the match it could only be postponed. "Within six months of the entry into force" of the maneuver, in fact, urban mobility services (including taxis) will fall within the ambit of the broader "provisions aimed at achieving complete liberalization and efficient regulation in the transport and access sector related infrastructure".
