LG: new solar record, +26,5% in energy

LG Electronics, the manufacturer of high-performance solar cells and modules, has announced that the potential of its bifacial module, in the 60-cell configuration and with a high albedo degree, has been analyzed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, the largest solar energy research institute in Europe. The bifacial NeON2 modules were installed on the roof of the Fraunhofer ISE headquarters in Freiburg, Germany and were tested, analyzed and verified for a full year (January 23, 2017 to February 9, 2018).

LG's NeON2 bifacial module has recorded an energy production of 26,5% more than conventional single-sided modules from LG Solar in this specific high albedo configuration.

The bifacial module from LG Electronics stands out for its performance, thanks to the cells with a “Emitter and Rear Totally Diffused” (PERTS). The back side of the PERT cell was designed from the outset to collect, scatter and reflect sunlight to generate additional energy. Generating additional energy has been recognized as an effective way to minimize the cost of electricity per source (the Levelized Cost of Energy, LCOE). LG Electronics' high-efficiency mono PERT N-Type module is the most efficient bifacial module currently in production.
