Unicredit's sprint keeps Piazza Affari afloat, the only positive stock exchange in a Europe that has turned red after the announcement of the new restrictions which will come into force in the UK to try to contain the spread of the Omicron variant. According to the British Health Minister, Sajid Javid, the new variant "spreads faster than any other mutation of Covid we have seen so far". This is why, according to him, "by this month we could have around a million infections across the UK". 

EUROPEAN EXCHANGES

The forecasts arriving from London also worry the other European countries, causing the markets to react: the worst stock market is Madrid (-0,9%), closely followed by Amsterdam (-0,7%). Sales are lower a Frankfurt (-0,3%) And Paris (-0,14%), while London yields 0,2%.

WALL STREET 

Across the ocean, the ride stops Wall Street which, after three days of increases, continues in negative awaiting the November inflation data, scheduled for tomorrow. Based on estimates, consumer prices could register a year-on-year growth of +6,7%. If the figure is confirmed, next week the Federal Reserve could decide to accelerate with the tapering, announcing a monthly cut of 30 billion to the securities purchase program, against the 15 billion a month expected to date. Meanwhile, the data on new weekly claims for unemployment benefits arrived, dropping by 43 to 184, the lowest figure since 1969. Nasdaq (-0,7%), the stock Amazon loses 0,4% after the fine of more than one billion euros received from the Italian Antitrust for abuse of dominant position. 

BUSINESS PLACE

In a West dyed (almost) totally red, Milano manages to close the session higher, gaining 0,25% to 26.817 points, driven by the rally in Unicredit (+10,8%). The bank led by Andrea Orcel, absolute protagonist of the day with very high volumes, presented the new business plan, in which he announced his intention to distribute to shareholders at least 16 billion euros in cash dividends and the buyback of treasury shares. At the end of the plan, net income should exceed 4,5 billion euros. The other stocks in the sector contrasted: Understanding (-0,27%), Bper (+ 0,5%), Ps (+ 2,33%). 

Among the securities of the Ftse Mib, the performance of utilities stands out with A2a (+ 1,9%) Ivy (+ 0,88%), Snam (+ 0,87%) and Terna (+0,62%) in the top ten of the largest capitalization stocks. Concerns about the Omicron variant favor Diasorin (+1,7%), good too nexi (+ 0,52%).

FALL TELECOM

After the increases on the eve, the profit-taking hit the stock instead Telecom Italy (-3,45%). A new board of directors is scheduled for December 17 and, second Republic, in addition to the offer from Kkr, there will also be talk of the Dazn contract and a possible revision of the budget estimates, the third of the year.
