Letta: "Now the government is stronger, no reshuffle"

After the Senate vote, which tonight confirmed its trust in the Executive by a large margin, Letta announces that she wants to pursue the program "with more determination" - "Without the Berlusconians, we are more united on Europe" - "I expect consequent decisions by the members of the Government who have chosen Forza Italia".

Letta: "Now the government is stronger, no reshuffle"

After the trust gained tonight, Government "it is stronger and more cohesive”, and the result obtained gives the Executive the prospect of being able to work “throughout 2014”. Thus the Prime Minister, Enrico Letta, commented the vote of the Senate, which last night confirmed its trust in the Executive by a wide margin (despite yesterday Forza Italia's move to the opposition): 171 votes in favor and 135 against.

Letta added that he wanted to exploit "this strength to pursue the program with more determination". The Premier, however, does not deem it appropriate to extend the Government's time horizon to the entire legislature: the objective "does not change, and is the one set for 29 April this year", ie the inauguration of the Executive.

“There is a need for a very cohesive government also on the European compass – continued Letta -. Now there is greater unity, because in Europe there is more unity between the parties that support this majority”. As for a possible reshuffle after the farewell of the Berlusconi, "the issue of the government team does not arise at the moment, but I expect consequent decisions by the members of the government who have chosen Forza Italia", i.e. the resignation.

The Premier then specified the calendar for the next few days: "I will meet all the representatives of the political forces and together we will establish the path to develop the path with greater collegiality". This "round of consultations" will begin after 8 December.
