“We will present a privatization plan in the autumn”. This was announced by Prime Minister Enrico Letta at a press conference in Athens, at the end of the meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, Antonis Samaras. Today Letta also reiterated that "Italy is a strongly committed country" also on the front of "liberalisation".
As for conditions in Greece, the Italian prime minister criticized the European Union's management of the Greek crisis: “Serious mistakes have been made by the EU in recent years – underlined Letta -. Wrong timing, wrong tools. It was done in the wrong way at the wrong time. This has led to a twisting of the crisis, which otherwise would have been different and would have caused fewer jobs to be lost throughout Europe”.
In any case, according to Letta "2014 could really be a turning point for the EU". The Italian presidency of the European Union which will take office in July "will work above all for this: a more integrated Europe, more focused on investments and employment, capable of creating a larger single market which is essential for creating more opportunities".
Having archived the visit to Athens, the Prime Minister is evaluating the possibility of an inspection in Irpinia, on the site of the accident in which 39 people lost their lives.
