Letta: Imu postponed, one billion to layoffs

Imu on first home and agricultural land postponed to September, another billion for layoffs in derogation, goodbye to double salary for ministers, deputy ministers and undersecretaries who already sit in Parliament. These are the main measures contained in the first decree law of the Letta government, approved this morning by the Council of Ministers.

Il postponement of the tax on the first home “it constitutes a perimeter that will allow us to reform the IMU over the next 100 days – said the Premier at the press conference after the CDM -. The decree contains a provision of forms of deductibility of the tax on real estate used for productive activities. A first strong message that we want to send to the business world in view of the relaunch ". If a comprehensive housing tax reform is not adopted by 31 August, payments will be made again.

As for the “second major intervention – continued Letta – it is the refinancing of layoffs for another billion euros, which allows us to get closer to the needs we imagine for this year. Furthermore, we have provided for the unblocking of solidarity contracts, an important tool for companies and workers in difficulty. The cover has to do with a portion of the productivity funds, which we could not have used this year. These are funds that are used as temporary cover, with the commitment to remit these resources when we carry out an overall operation on the relaunch. The municipalities have been placed in safeguards for the June installment and in a logic that respects the rates set by the various municipalities".

Finally, “as announced to the Houses – the Prime Minister said –, we have chosen to start with one cost reduction of the policy which concerns us. We therefore eliminate the salary of ministers, undersecretaries and deputy ministers who also perform the role of parliamentarians. It is a structural intervention: it will no longer be possible to accumulate salaries, the salary of a parliamentarian will have to suffice ".

Finally, Letta communicated the appointment of Daniel Franco as the new state general accountant and Marco Minniti to the position of undersecretary of state with powers to the secret services.
