Letta-Alfano, it's a break with Berlusconi

Letta-Alfano, it's a break with Berlusconi

No way: after an interview that lasted three hours and in rather harsh tones, as leaked to the press by the two trusted ministers present, Lupi and Franceschini, Prime Minister Enrico Letta and his deputy and PDL leader Angelino Alfano did not find the agreement on how to "save" Berlusconi after the final condemnation sentence of the Cassation which puts the public activity of the Knight at risk and consequently the stability of the current government.

"I do not accept blackmail or ultimatums," thundered Letta in response to the assault of an Alfano apparently unleashed in reporting Berlusconi's messages. Nothing, therefore, no agreement but even a tussle that could almost lead to the rupture, as hypothesized by many by now: the positions are still very distant, even if sources from the PDL itself let it be known that there is still no intention to fall the government.

However, the ire of the Knight remains, who would have vented with his followers by saying: "these don't grant us anything", and whose position on the forfeiture of public offices will in any case be examined by the Senate election committee starting from 9 September. Then there is another piece of news: while there is an open confrontation on the Berlusconi case, it would seem that instead on economic issues Letta and Alfano have found common ground on the delicate issues of VAT and Imu.
