"Summer will not be in quarantine", word of Giuseppe Conte. In an interview with Corriere della Sera, the premier wanted to reassure citizens (and above all tourism operators): the season will go ahead in some way, but without haste. That is why, meanwhile, in front of the break the ranks of some Regions (full beaches in Sicily, Calabria and Liguria which give the green light to second homes, South Tyrol, Sardinia and Friuli Venezia Giulia which anticipate many openings), the Government is challenging the various measures, considered premature and imprudent. But we are in mid-May, weeks if not months to go for the real summer.
“This summer – said Conte – we will not be on the balcony and the beauty of Italy will not remain in quarantine. We can go by the sea, in the mountains, enjoy our cities. And it would be nice for Italians to spend their holidays in Italy, even if we will do it differently, with rules and precautions. We await the evolution of the epidemiological framework to provide precise indications on dates and programming ". However, in order to do it safely, in addition to distancing and masks, tools that are delayed for now will be needed: swabs, apps for tracking infections, sample serological tests.
“We are working day and night – confessed the Prime Minister to Corsera – for strengthen monitoring, contact tracing and tele-assistance activities, in a broader integrated strategy that provides for the strengthening of hospitals, intensive care units and local medicine. We are waiting to see how the app works, but I invite you to consider that we could be among the first in the world to have developed a public system with all the guarantees".
