L'Espresso: profit drops to 10,1 million in the first quarter, revenues -7,1%.

The first quarter of 2012 for Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso ends with a drop of 23,2% in profit compared to the same period of 2011 – Consolidated net revenues are down by 7,1%, while the gross operating margin is also down – For the entire year a positive result is expected.

Il Gruppo Editoriale L'Espresso closed the first quarter of 2012 with a profit of 10,1 million euro, down by 23,2% compared to 13,1 million in the same period of 2011, while the consolidated net revenues, at 206,5 million euros, down by 7,1% compared to 222,2 million in the first quarter of last year.

The decline, according to the press release released by the company, would be "attributable to the performance of add-on products, which had been extraordinarily favorable in the first quarter of 2011. Without add-ons, the drop would have been 3%".

They result in on the other hand, there was an increase in other revenues, equal to 7,6 million, up by about 20% compared to the first quarter of 2011. The consolidated operating result is 20,5 million, a clear decrease compared to 27,6 million in the same period of the previous year. EBITDA fell by 19,5%, settling at 29,6 million, while compared to the end of 2011, the consolidated net financial position, from -110,2 million euros to -91,6 millioni.

For the full year, the Group expects a positive result, albeit to a lesser extent than in 2011, also given the difficult economic situation.
