Antonia Klugmann, chef of Argine a Vencò (Gorizia) is the chef most representative of the new direction of Italian cuisine excellence, but also, of its renewal with an eye to the future. And to the chef from Trieste Guide to 1000 Restaurants in Italy de L'Espresso has awarded in the 2025 edition 5 Hats. Andrea Grignaffini, curator of La Guida, motivated the choice as follows: “A fitting tribute to a cook who, in the remote beauty of the Italian suburbs, works with absolute meticulousness, drawing inspiration from nature to reach the essence of taste”.
But another woman has also conquered the top of the rankings of the L'Espresso Guide, in this case the Guide to the best Italian wines and she is Marina Cuomo, Award for Best Winery in Italy with this motivation: “The challenge to the possibilities of the territory and to the very concept of viticulture: Marisa and Andrea’s winery is capable of giving true miracles in a bottle”.
Another important recognition of the 2025 edition of the Guide to a Thousand Italian Restaurants is the Award for the Best Solidarity Catering Project which went to the Ernesto Pellegrini Onlus Foundation. Gianluca Ianuario, president of L'Espresso, underlined, in awarding the prize, the recognition "for the extraordinary commitment in promoting values of inclusion, solidarity and sustainability through the launch of the Ruben Restaurant in Milan". Ianuario also announced that "this framework also includes the project to further expand the message of inclusion and sensitivity: soon, in fact, an international version of the Guides will be launched, to bring the commitment and vision of this project beyond national borders". Important news also for The Guide to the 1000 Wines of Italy, curated by Luca Gardini who selected 1000 labels after months of tastings, evaluating parameters such as stylistic cleanliness, identity and qualitative consistency.
The special rankings also stand out: the Top 5 natural wines and the Top 5 wines under 15 euros, demonstrating the variety and richness of the wine panorama. During the awards ceremony, a celebration of Italian cuisine took place, thanks to the catering provided by Ristorante Da Vittorio, in collaboration with six talented chefs, who offered guests a unique gastronomic experience. The creations were accompanied by some prestigious labels awarded by the Guide, including the Bordeaux blend of Tenuta San Leonardo, the Valdobbiadene DOCG Extra Brut Tridik Quota 430, 2023 harvest of Colesel and the Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi La Meirana 2023 of the Broglia company.
