Les Echos: Renault could recall up to 700.000 vehicles

Renault, as reported by the French newspaper Les Eschos, it could recall up to 700.000 cars for emissions checks. Another 15.000 cars, in this case it is learned from official sources, will be instead recalled to the factory even before being marketed, while owners of cars already on the road will be able to ask from July whether their vehicle needs to be tuned for free.

This was announced by the Minister of the Environment Segolene Royal, later the hearing of the car manufacturer before the technical commission on the issue of the emissions scandal. Royal, speaking to Rtl, explained: "Renault has undertaken to recall a certain number of vehicles, 15 cars, to check and adjust them correctly so that the filtering system works" at all temperature conditions. Royal then specified that Renault is not the only one to have broken the rules, without however specifying which other groups are involved: "The controls - he said - will have to concern emissions when the ambient temperature is very high or below -17 degrees, because in those conditions the exhaust filtering system no longer works”.

According to the online edition of the newspaper Les Echos, as mentioned, there will actually be many more vehicles: Renault, in the crosshairs for failing to comply with the anti-pollution limits with its engines, in all, it could recall up to 700.000 vehicles for compliance.
