Leonardo: sells 17 helicopters to China for 100 million

Leonardo and Sino-US Intercontinental Helicopter Investment (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. strengthen cooperation on the Chinese helicopter market. During a ceremony held today at the Paris Air Show, the Shanghai-based helicopter distribution company Sino-US Intercontinental announced an order for 17 helicopters including 2 AW119Kx, 10 AW109 Trekker and 5 AW139. The contract, worth over 100 million euros, provides for the start of deliveries at the end of this year.

The distribution agreement was also renewed which provides for the purchase of additional helicopters in the next three years and which makes Sino-US Intercontinental the exclusive distributor of Leonardo for the Chinese civil and offshore market (including the areas of Hong Kong and Macao) . By mid-2019, the exclusivity of the agreement will be extended to all helicopter activities on the Chinese market. The parties then undertook to enhance after-sales services through the development of a product customization center and the provision of training services, further demonstrating the importance attributed by Leonardo to the provision of adequate support for the progressive fleet expansion in the country.

Sino-US Intercontinental has so far ordered nearly 100 Leonardo helicopters of various types such as the AW119Kx, the GrandNew, the AW109 Trekker, the AW169, the AW139 and the AW189 and is responsible for the largest national helicopter rescue program in the country . Leonardo's growing presence in China has led to the sale of almost 200 helicopters to various customers to date for commercial and public utility tasks. This constantly expanding fleet is supported by a wide range of support services, recently strengthened with the opening of a major logistics facility in Shanghai.
