Leonardo today announced the signing of a contract with the Danish operator Uni-Fly A/S for two AgustaWestland AW169 light intermediate helicopters. Deliveries are expected in the first quarter of 2018. The helicopters will carry out tasks supporting DONG Energy's operations on the Hornsea Project One wind power project in the North Sea, at a distance of 120km from Humberside, UK.

This is the first Danish order for the new AW169 model, which also makes its entry into the market for helicopter support operations for the UK wind industry after the success already achieved with other European customers and engaged in the North Sea. These AW169s will be fitted with a special custom configuration including dedicated offshore interior and recovery winch to support wind turbine maintenance personnel. Uni-Fly A/S and DONG Energy will take a significant step forward in terms of operational capabilities thanks to the high performance, next generation technology and safety standards of the AW169, qualities that help make it the most advanced helicopter available today on the market in its weight class. This model has already achieved multiple successes in Europe for other applications such as helicopter rescue, corporate transport, support to port activities and public duties.
