Leonardo Innovation Award: competition for students, how to register

Applications are underway to participate in the fifteenth edition of Leonardo's Innovation Award which will be held on 15 and 17 November at the Talent Garden Ostiense in Rome. A 48-hour marathon in which the company led by Alessandro Profumo addresses employees and university students in order to explore new frontiers of research and technology.

“The new competition – explains the company in a note – is an Open Innovation tool designed to launch new technological challenges, also drawing on external contributions”.

The students who will participate in the initiative will have to carry out an innovative project, comparing themselves with professionals, industry experts and mentors, and will be called to develop solutions for the management of activities in emergency situations, devising support tools for rescuers and designing the working prototype of an autonomous vehicle for the reconnaissance of an area in critical conditions.

To participate in the Innovation Award, university students and graduates from January 2018 in STEM disciplines (Science, Technologies, Engineering, Mathematics) must enroll (individually or in a team) by October 31st.

The awards ceremony for the winners of the Innovation Award will be held in Genoa in November, in the presence of Leonardo's top management and institutional representatives. The top three winning teams will receive cash prizes. On the same day, the winners of the internal competition will also be awarded, which over the years has seen the participation of around 30.000 Leonardo employees and the presentation of 10.000 innovative projects and patent proposals.
