Leonardo, contract with the Finance for 22 helicopters

Leonardo has signed a contract with the Guardia di Finanza for the supply of 22 new generation AW169M twin-engine helicopters. The order is worth 280 million euros and also includes "a complete support and training package that could be extended in the future with further services for a value of up to 100 million euros", explains the aerospace group in a note.

The helicopters will be used for various tasks including patrols and reconnaissance, public order, rescue and security missions, adding to the fleet of 14 AW139s, of which six are already in service and eight are due for delivery next year. They will be delivered between the summer of 2019 and the end of 2024.

"This contract will allow us to supply the Guardia di Finanza with a latest generation helicopter equipped with the best on-board technologies that can be exploited to carry out increasingly complex missions", commented Leonardo's CEO, Alessandro Profumo.

On Monday morning, about an hour after the opening, Leonardo's stock on the Stock Exchange gains 1,2%, to 8,966 euros, scoring one of the best rises of the Ftse Mib, which in the same minutes travels in negative territory of the 0,25%.
