Leonardo: contracts with Airbus for 100 million

The Leonardo group has signed new contracts with Airbus for over 100 million euros. The agreement, with a duration of 5 years, provides for the supply of avionics support and maintenance services for the German and Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon fleets. The service covers "all the equipment for which Leonardo has design responsibility and which make up the majority of the aircraft's avionics suite", reads the note.

The company explains that “avionic support activities are planned for the Typhoons of the Spanish Air Force (Ejercito del aire) and the German Air Force (Tyftwaffe), in collaboration with Airbus and the Eurofighter consortium. The contracts with Germany and Spain follow similar agreements stipulated with the other partner nations of the Eurofighter consortium, Italy and the United Kingdom”.

The Italian Air Force, adds Leonardo, “was the first air force to equip itself since 2008 with a centre, developed together with Leonardo, dedicated to avionics maintenance for its fleet of Eurofighter Typhoons. This center performs support activities directly at the aircraft's operational base, guaranteeing defined repair times".
