Leonardo, orders worth 200 million with the US Army

Leonardo's order book is further enriched. The group led by Alessandro Profumo, through the US subsidiary Leonardo DRS, has been awarded two contracts for about 200 million US dollars, confirming its leadership in supporting the needs of the US Army with technologically advanced solutions. The first contract, worth $132 million, is the first order for the production of the next generation IT systems, designated Mounted Family of Computer Systems (MFoCS) II, for US Army mission commands. The contract was awarded to Leonardo DRS by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a US defense agency. The innovative system, developed by the Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business unit, has modular characteristics and effectively supports the US Army's current modernization strategy of its ground combat and support vehicles as well as command posts.

The second contract, worth 67 million dollars, relates to the supply of infrared sensors installed on different types of land combat vehicles. Specifically, Leonardo DRS will supply the US Army with the new second generation Forward Looking Infrared (SG-FLIR) horizontal integration kits. It is an infrared sensor capable of supporting fire control and surveillance on a variety of US Army fighting vehicles, including M1A1 Abrams tanks and Bradley Fighting Vehicles. Leonardo DRS, based in the USA, operates in the Defense and Security sector by providing products, services and integrated support to military forces, intelligence and defense agencies on an international scale.
