Leonardo starts a partnership with Cisco to develop high technology activities

Leonardo, an Italian company operating in the aerospace, defense and security sectors, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with cisco systems inc., a US multinational world leader in the networking and IT sectors, with the aim of strengthening reciprocal commercial relations and starting collaboration in the civil and defense industrial fields.

The market sectors affected by the partnership

The activities, within the framework of the Memorandum, will serve to identify, jointly and periodically, also through the establishment of dedicated working groups, the business opportunities and technical cooperation areas in certain IT sectors such as cybersecurity, secure networking, the Internet-of-Things, the digital workplace and cloud edge computing for both private companies and public administrations.

The agreement also provides for the development of potential integrated solutions, on the basis of the respective technologies and with a view to proposing suitable solutions to grasp the market needs. Detailed roadmaps will be discussed in specific technological areas, such as quantum cryptography, green transition and security solutions for logistics and transport, thanks to the use of drones and advanced urban security systems.

The protocol also mentions the possibility of joint commercial offers, through a process of analysis of products and solutions aimed at the national and international market, so as to broaden the business opportunities and the audience of potential customers of the two companies. Leonardo and Cisco, according to the agreement, undertake to guarantee the satisfaction of mutual advantages on the commercial proposals to be finalized towards a series of strategic programmes, previously identified by the two companies.

A Steering Committee will also be established

To optimize the activities that will be governed by the Memorandum, the two companies have decided to set up a steering committee (Steering Committee) with the aim di monitor progress of the partnership and evaluate the overall progress of the collaboration. The steering committee may, in turn, set up specific working groups to concretely pursue the joint business opportunities identified.

With this new MoU the two companies strengthen cooperation already active for some time.
