Leonardo raises profitability and confirms guidance

Growing accounts for Leonardo in the first quarter of 2021. In particular, in addition to the revenues up 7,7% at 2,79 billion, the Ebitda boom stands out, reaching 95 million euros, therefore +132% compared to the same period last year, with a significant increase in all business sectors with the exception of the civil component and in particular of the Aerostructures division, which is feeling the effects of the difficulties associated with the decline in volumes. Ebit is even better, which showed a +150% reaching 75 million, despite the incidence of costs that the group is still incurring for alignment with government indications regarding Covid. The net ordinary result of the group headed by Alessandro Profumo it was a loss of 2 million, but an improvement on the loss of 59 million the year before. Finally, debt also grew, but only slightly, to 4.640 million euros (+5,6%).

"The results - reads the note issued by the Board of Directors, chaired by Luciano Carta - are in line with the forecasts of recovery of the growth path and increase in profitability formulated in the integrated financial statements as at 31 December 2020, highlighting a marked improvement in performance of the Group, which in the first quarter of 2020 had been particularly affected by the onset of the Covid-19 emergency, which gradually stabilized over the following months also following the initiatives put in place to ensure full business operations. This trend testifies to the government/military business resilience, in a context still characterized by the pandemic. On the other hand, the civil component confirms the critical issues highlighted in recent months with, in particular, the Aerostructures Division which is feeling the effects of the difficulties associated with the drop in volumes and consequent non-absorption of fixed costs which lead to lower results compared to the first quarter of 2020 ”.

In the light of these results, Leonardo confirmed guidance for 2021 formulated last December, according to which revenues will be between 13,8 and 14,3 billion euros, while Ebita is expected to be in the range of 1.075-1.125 million euros.
