The Leonardo Group announces the appointment of Alessandro Profumo to the Presidency of theEuropean Association of Aerospace, Defense and Security Industries (ASD). Leonardo's CEO will lead this organization for the next two years, which represents the largest companies and over 3.000 SMEs and associations from 18 European countries. The appointment took place yesterday on the occasion of the 'virtual' meeting of the Board of the Association.

With pride because in an emergency context, at the peak of COVID-19, the capabilities of our sector have made it possible to transfer patients, doctors and medical equipment where it was most needed, and have guaranteed communications, transport, monitoring , also from space, as well as physical and digital security, in Italy and in the world ”said Alessandro Profumo. “The responsibility derives from taking on this role in a phase that poses political, economic, social and environmental challenges and which cannot be separated from a cohesive European system also at an industrial level. Already today - added Profumo - it is clear that the AD&S sector will be a point of reference for many of the priorities identified in the post-Covid recovery agenda: I am thinking of digitization, the green deal, cyber security, the competitiveness of the European system, up to the driving force for the training system. In this sense, I will work to ensure that the potential of the AD&S sector is recognized, deployed and supported with effective tools and investments, promoting a continuous and transparent dialogue with European interlocutors ".
