The contract
The contract worth over 25 million euros provides a tailor-made solution for Southwest, focused on operational management, manual sorting and baggage transfer. A key element of the project is the introduction of the cross-belt baggage handling, a technological innovation in the United States.
Leonardo's Mbhs cross-belt sorter
La Mbhs cross-belt sorter by Leonardo is a proven technology that offers benefits significant compared to traditional systems, such as maximum precision, greater sorting speed and scalability. These features aim to improve Southwest's operational efficiency by ensuring precision in automatic baggage sorting and reducing operator workload.
Mbhs technology should simplify the entire process, optimize the use of resources and reduce overall operating expenses for the airline, leading to improved times of aircraft rotation and, consequently, greater customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the system is expected to lighten the workload of staff, improving safety and creating more comfortable working conditions.
