Eni awarded 4 exploration licenses from Norway

Eni has been awarded 4 exploration licenses for oil in the waters of the Barents Sea.
The awarding of the licenses took place as part of the Norwegian government's 36nd competitive international round which concluded today. In total 86 companies had applied for 24 blocks but the oil and energy ministry in Oslo decided to grant only 20 licenses (4 in the Barents Sea and 29 in the Norwegian Sea) to 4 groups, including the national group Norwegian Statoil. Therefore Eni obtained 28 licenses while the remaining 20 participating companies divided up the other XNUMX available licenses.
The Italian energy company has received three of the four licenses with the role of operator. More specifically, Eni was awarded the operatorship and the 40% interest in the PL 717, PL 712 and PL 716 licenses and the 30% interest in the PL 714 license (Statoil operator).

The Italian major operates in Norway through Eni Norge AS, has been present in the country since 1964 and with approximately 111.000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of production is one of the main operators.
