Stability law, mayors: if it doesn't change, we resign

Stability law, mayors: if it doesn't change, we resign

If the stability law is not changed in the Senate, Italian mayors will be showered with resignations. This is the message launched today by an Anci delegation to the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Piero Giarda, during a meeting in the Prefecture.

“Minister Giarda understood the seriousness of the situation – declared Graziano Delrio, president of Anci -, but he was not authorized to give answers. We have reaffirmed our position, that is, if the stability law comes out of the Senate as it is, we are ready to resign en masse”.

At this point, continued the mayor of Reggio Emilia, "we are waiting for the message to be transferred to Monti, then either the answers will arrive or they will find themselves with a part of the Republic that is unable to perform its functions and will go on to govern the local communities with the prefects".

Delrio then recalled that today the Anci will meet the secretary of the Northern League Roberto Maroni and tomorrow the secretaries of Pdl and Pd, Angelino Alfano and Pier Luigi Bersani, "because we believe that we must realize the seriousness of the situation".

As for the consequences of the announced resignations, Delrio explained that they will involve "the interruption of the administrative activity of the local communities, which without the government will not be able to guarantee services".

Finally, on the front of the requests made to the Executive, Delrio recalled the revision of the IMU, the stability pact and the cuts envisaged by the spending review. Measures that can be adopted leaving “the public finance balances unchanged, but distributing the cuts differently. The law of stability can be changed with unchanged balances”.
