Electoral law: everything postponed to September

The new calendar was established by the conference of the group leaders of Montecitorio – In agreement with the Democratic Party and the Popular Area, the wrath of the Northern League.

The reform of the electoral law will return to the Chamber of Deputies in September. The conference of the Montecitorio group leaders established the new calendar.

During the meeting held today, the Democratic Party and the Popular Area had asked for the text to be examined in September, while Forza Italia had proposed starting it as early as July. After a long discussion, the second option was chosen. However, there is no precise date: the examination of the new law with which Italy will go to vote next spring could begin at the beginning or end of the month, despite the already limited time that separates our country from the elections. After the chaos on the German model, which arrived following the step back of the M5S, the extension was in the air.

"The Italian Parliament is perfectly capable of approving a new electoral law starting from the texts already under discussion - declare the representatives of the parliamentary groups of Popular Alternative, Centrists for Europe, UDC, Solidarity Democracy, Democratic Center, Civics and Innovators, Civic Choice and Making! – no extra-parliamentary pact, which has failed and cannot be proposed again, can block the free parliamentary dialectic”.

On the other hand, the reaction of the secretary of the Northern League, Matteo Salvini, lasts: “It is scandalous and shameful that we want to waste another two months of time: why September? Tomorrow".
