Electoral law: the Rosatellum is law

After obtaining the green light yesterday for the 5 votes of confidence requested by the government on the various articles of the text, the provision was definitively approved in the Senate with 214 yes, 61 against, one abstention – Controversy in the Chamber.

The Rosatellum, or rather the "Rosatellum 2.0", the revised version after the first proposal of the deputy of the Pd Rosato, is finally law. After obtaining yesterday's go-ahead for the 5 votes of confidence asked by the government on the various articles of the text, the provision was definitively approved in the Senate with 214 yes, 61 against, one abstention. With its publication in the Official Gazette it will become law.

The clash inside and outside Parliament was tough during the discussion on the provision after the 5 Star Movement demonstrated in the square yesterday against the armoring of the provision. "This it is the bunga-bunga law – affirms the M5S group leader in the Senate Andrea Cioffi – an orgy of pluricandidates in which the end user is invariably always the same. You are the same gang, you without ideas, without programs, but with the same project, to keep the seats to continue to exhaust and strip a nation on its last legs.

“Today we are writing a good page for the history of the Republic – he says instead the group leader of Forza Italia in the Senate, Paolo Romani – with this law we lay the foundations for the next legislature to be stable, capable of responding to the needs of Italian citizens. Today we have avoided going to the vote with the fruits of the Court's sentences, non-homogeneous texts between the Chamber and the Senate, strongly relaunching - he concludes - the role of Parliament".
