Electoral law, Pd-Forza Italia agreement on the 37% majority threshold

The agreement between the Democratic Party and Forza Italia has finally arrived. The threshold for obtaining the majority bonus will be 37%. The main node of the new electoral law, the Italicum, is therefore dissolved, at least according to the rumors coming from the Palace. Nothing has been made official by the two parties, but according to what was declared to the press by some MPs of the Democratic Party, the die is - or rather would be - cast.

Among the points of the agreement, also the so-called "save-League" rule: the minimum quorum for entry into Parliament has been set at 4,5%.

The new telephone contacts this morning between Matteo Renzi and Silvio Berlusconi were decisive. The agreement reached has not yet been made official by the two main parties, but according to some parliamentarians of the Democratic Party it is now a done deal.

The rest of the details are not yet known. However, there seems to be a point of balance on the redefinition of constituencies: Renzi and Berlusconi would agree to entrust the delegation to the government. And as far as multiple nominations are concerned, the Knight's party would have given the go-ahead, but with the setting of a maximum ceiling, as requested by Angelino Alfano.
