The possibility of accessing the European structural funds will also be extended to freelancers. This is established by an amendment to the stability Law approved on Wednesday by the Budget Commission and included in the Maxi amendment passed today in the Senate. The measure, in fact, equates freelancers to small and medium-sized enterprises.

“A victory for all freelancers”, commented the president of Confprofessioni Gaetano Stella, "a historic result that crowns years of efforts by our Confederation at a community, national and regional level, but above all will allow all professionals, none excluded, to be able to access indispensable resources to grow a strategic economic sector for economic and social development of the country".

Furthermore, the approval of the amendment entails an alignment with the guidelines of the community institutions who had already overcome the legal distinction between SMEs and professionals considering any entity that carries out an economic activity as a "company", thus allowing freelancers access to the European structural funds ESF and ERDF.
