The amount of the denomination at tax wedge “is not high” and the intervention on real estate taxation "is open to improvement in some respects." This was stated by the deputy director of the Bank of Italy, Federico Signorini, during a hearing on the maneuver in the Senate.
"The reduction of the wedge, which is high by international comparison, responds to the priority need today to privilege work and production", underlined Signorini, also recalling that it is "necessary" to respect the threshold of 3% of the deficit "set by the European rules to boost market confidence and avoid the risk of being subjected to the excessive deficit procedure again in the future: our analyzes suggest the need for a careful control of spending in the final months of the year".
