Lega, seizures "in installments" to repay the 49 million: it will take 80 years

The Northern League has reached an agreement with the Genoa prosecutor's office on the methods and timing of the seizure of the funds that the Carroccio will have to return to the state for the maxi scam on undue electoral reimbursements that took place between 2008 and 2010.

Under the agreement, announced by the prosecutor Francesco Cozzi and the deputy Francesco Pinto, the party led by Matteo Salvini will suffer a seizure of 100 euros every two months, for a total of 600 euros a year. Technically it is not a question of real installments, but of a deferred seizure.

That of 600 thousand euros a year, the prosecutors underline, is the minimum threshold, but if the party were to collect more, net of ordinary management expenses, the figure would increase.

The League's money will be made available to the Guardia di Finanza in a dedicated account.

Where will this money come from? From the rent of the headquarters in via Bellerio in Milan or from the money that the party will obtain in any other way written in the certified financial statements starting from the 2019 financial year.

At the moment, according to the League's lawyers, there are 130 euros in cash which will be immediately acquired by the financial police.

Making a quick calculation it will take about 80 years (81,6 to be precise) to arrive at the final repayment of the 49 million euros established by the judges.

It should be emphasized that, regardless of the agreement, the lawyers of the League, the lawyers Giovanni Ponti and Roberto Zingari, have announced that they have filed the appeal with the Cassation against the decision of the Court of Review of Genoa which on 6 September gave the go-ahead for the seizure of the 49 million euros.
