Lega and M5S to Draghi: "We too in the Government"

Salvini's full willingness to let the League enter the Draghi government without placing conditions - Ditto for Grillo and the Five Stars: "We're coming too", but better if without the League - The Pd's embarrassment for Salvini's entry into the government

Lega and M5S to Draghi: "We too in the Government"

In the end it really will be the “government of all”. Almost. The last day of the first round of consultations seems to give this indication, after the president in charge Mario Draghi met the "hottest" delegations, those of the Lega and the 5 Star Movement. Both have opened up participation in the new executive that is being formed, and which has already obtained the express support of the outgoing majority, in addition to the centrists and Forza Italia. “Available to participate,” said the leader of the League Matteo Salvini, who on leaving Montecitorio said he “did not talk about ministers” with Draghi.

The same opening also came from Vito Crimi of the 5 Star Movement, who spoke of willingness to take part in the government, but also of the "need for a strong executive, with an environmentalist, supportive and pro-European traction. For example, we asked not to weaken the basic income. We have never let consensus prevail over the good of Italy. Let's not forget who brought Conte down … ". Beppe Grillo led the Five Star delegation from Draghi but hasn't made a statement, save for one place where he says wanting to please everyone would lead to certain failure.

The first round of consultations with Mario Draghi has therefore ended, with the feeling that a so-called “Ursula majority” is forming, even extended to the League. The 5 Star Movement is officially inside, but it is tearing itself apart and the frond of dissidents, who are headed by Di Battista, is growing, especially in the Senate. The Pd and Leu are also at a ford: the preference was for a majority without the League, to the point that someone goes so far as not to rule out the hypothesis of external support for the Draghi government. For now, however, only the Brothers of Italy with Giorgia Meloni has been called out.
