The last ones stop the first in the class: only equal for Juve and Roma

SCUDETTO CHALLENGE - Bianconeri and Giallorossi stopped by the bottom of the class: Juve miss a last-minute penalty and are blocked by Cesena on 2 to 2 while Roma do not win at home even against the resigned Parma (0 to 0) - On the eve of the European Cups, the distance in the standings between the Italian champions and Garcia's team remains seven points.

The last ones stop the first in the class: only equal for Juve and Roma

That David stops Goliath, in the world of football, is already rare in itself, that it happens twice in the same day is even unique. Yet the 23rd of A saw the first in the class draw against the last, moreover without being able to recriminate anything. Juventus and Roma could also have won, that's for sure, but Cesena and Parma have absolutely not deserved, indeed demonstrating that they are much more alive than what the rankings say. The same that continues to see the bianconeri firmly in command, albeit without that final break that would put out the last yellow and red flames. Already two weeks ago, in Udine, the Lady did not capitalize on Lupa's draw against Empoli and yesterday history repeated itself. Compared to the gray 0-0 of Friuli, however, Manuzzi saw spectacle and goals, to tell the truth more thanks to Cesena.

In fact, it was Di Carlo's team that took the lead first, moreover after having already squandered two excellent opportunities a few minutes earlier: in the 17th minute, however, Djuric took advantage of a nasty mistake by Pirlo to lead his team to a sensational 1-0 lead. The slap woke up Allegri's men, unrecognizable until then, and not surprisingly, within a quarter of an hour, the score was completely reversed. First Morata with a header (27'), then Marchisio with a robbery (33'): a double roar that seemed to close every speech and not just for the Manuzzi match. However, Cesena had the merit of trying for the entire second half, taking advantage of the leaders' mistakes, betrayed by almost all the key players. In the 70th minute Brienza found the deserved equalizer with a shot from the edge, capitalizing on a sensational and indisputable territorial superiority.

In the 82nd minute the episode that certified the black and white evening: hand ball by Lucchini and decisive penalty kick. Vidal went on the spot, the same one who, a couple of months ago, had sent a very heavy ball over the crossbar (fortunately that later turned out to be irrelevant) against Olympiacos. This time the Chilean managed to do even worse, kicking out a beaten goalkeeper and thus certifying the failure to escape for the win. “It was a bad match, played badly technically – admitted Allegri. – Too bad, it would have been an important step towards the Scudetto but these matches bring us back down to earth. We have committed the sin of presumption”. On balance, however, Cesena's point is earned.

In fact, in the afternoon Roma hadn't managed to go beyond the draw against Parma, a sad 0-0 home draw that unleashed the anger of the fans. We needed victory at all costs, instead the Giallorossi trend of 2015 (2 wins in 7 games) continued on the trend of the x sign. A roster that doesn't reconcile well with the race for the title and in fact Garcia's team remains in the race only thanks to Juve: if Napoli hadn't stumbled in Palermo then we would be talking above all about fighting for second place. “We had to and could have won, we are all disappointed – the words of the French coach. – In the first half we were too slow, in the second we went well but we weren't able to break through their defensive wall. It's true, we have many absences but this shouldn't be an alibi…”.

In short, no excuses, only disappointment for a goal shouted from the rooftops (remember the proclamations of the October championship?) and now hanging mainly by the thread of mathematics. Total involution, daughter of a physical decline that transformed the beautiful Rome of the beginning of the year into the current bad copy. In which goals arrive with a dropper even now that Gervinho and Doumbia are back from the African Cup. Garcia tried to shake the inertia by inserting them both from the start, an unfortunate choice because the two (especially the new signing) turned out to be out of shape. However, the regret remains of not having realized some chances, above all the post hit by Cole in the final, but episodes can't always lead to victory. To really install Juve, a very different pace would be needed, which is why, mathematics aside, the games seem to be heading towards the conclusion. Provided that, from this ugly but very balanced championship, no other twists come.
