The origins of the Italian song in a concert-show

Viaggio in Italia è a sensory show, a choral concert of lights and colors that crosses our wonderful beautiful country in a tour, from Sicily to Friuli, passing through Maremma and Molise, stops in many small villages and last Wednesday and Thursday 24-25/04/2019 landed at theAuditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, in the Theater Studio room.

The idea for such a show comes from a workshop organized by theWorkshop of the Arts Pier Paolo Pasolini, all to allow the public to enjoy the richness of a musical tradition that speaks of our roots, coming from an archaic and almost forgotten past.

Songs, litanies, nursery rhymes and even recitations of pieces set to music taken directly from the best Italian popular tradition, songs that grandparents sang: a whole new show concept, in fact at the beginning it was not easy to find consensus for the realization, but then what was supposed to be the representation for one evening only went on for 2 years!

The "Concert" lasts two hours and there are no dead times, all unfolding through a "musical storytelling” which expresses feelings such as Joy, Yearning Love and Conviviality, yes indeed the Conviviality of choral songs which are nothing more than Tales of the past of millions of Italian families, set to music between dances and colors that describe the moods inspired by the different songs.

In the show, young artists who are former students of the Officina Pasolini who founded thecultural Association Love it: the name comes from the fusion of two Greek words and means a "celebration of the origins", it is a new Roman cultural reality composed of 17 artists from every region of Italy; The purpose of the organization is to promote Italian musical culture both nationally and internationally.

The concert-show "Viaggio in Italia" enhances and puts the spotlight on a humble musical heritage that speaks of the history of our nation, between incredible diversity and richness, of regions, accents and dialects, of emigration and work, of a proud beauty : a show that entrusts the story of our origins to popular songs, starting the narrative from 1200 up to the early 1900s.
