The green economies of the future will be born in the exhaust fumes of the big cities of Asia

Which countries are most attractive for the "green industry", ie investments in renewable energies? Consulting firm Ernst & Young released its Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index, and China widened its lead over the US, consolidating its top spot. The novelty also lies in the fact that India has advanced in the standings, undermining Germany and thus climbing onto the podium, in third place. Anyone who has experienced Beijing's smog or India's very frequent blackouts or brownouts will agree that the two subcontinents are in dire need of renewable energy. And these flattering rankings are based on projects, regulatory structures and five-year plans, rather than on proven investment experiences. However, it is good to know that there are good intentions and business opportunities, in the two most populous markets in the world, are open to all companies in the sector.
